NAWBO Miami was invited to participate in a roundtable event with candidate for Governor, Charlie Crist
and Lieutenant Governor Candidate, Annette Taddeo.  The purpose of the roundtable was for the
candidates to learn about the concerns and aspirations of women business owners and leaders.
NAWBO President Jennifer Ohl and Vice-President Karen Lapekas attended.  Karen emphasized
the importance of considering reasons more women do not venture out on their own and made
some suggestions on this point. Jennifer's company was recently certified as a Women Business
Enterprise (WBE). She discussed the cumbersome and expensive process to become certified, and
NAWBO's initiatives that have helped more women receive certification for their businesses.
Women business leaders discuss issues important to their businesses with
Governor Crist.
